William Page Pease, ne supportant plus l'autorité puritaine de sa mère, s'enfuit vivre à Paris où il se trouvait lorsque l'Amérique entra dans la Grande Guerre.
Il rejoignit le Corps Expéditionnaire Américain qui, en 1917, vint renforcer les armées française et anglaise. Il s'engagea à Paris le 20 Septembre 1917 et fut démobilisé à St-Aignan le 18 mars 1919.
Il fut décoré de la "World War I Victory Medal" et du "World War I Victory Button Bronze".
Ambulancier, il était basé près de la ville du Thillais où Gustave Hautelin était cultivateur. C'est là que William rencontra Marguerite et qu'ils se marièrent le 27 janvier 1919.
William Page could not stand any longer the authority of his puritan mother and run away. He escaped to Paris, France, where he was living when the USA joined the First World War.
He entered the American Expeditionnary Corps as Private First Class in Paris on September 20, 1917. The separation took place in St.Aignan, France on March 18, 1919.
He received the World War I Victory Medal and the World War I Victory Button Bronze.
As medical orderly his ambulance group was based near Le Thillais where Gustave Hautelin lived as a farmer. There, William met Marguerite and they get maried on january 27, 1919.
